Warning Signs & Symptoms

Like most cardiovascular diseases, stroke is considered a “silent killer”. Unfortunately, half of stroke victims present no warning signs and their risk often goes undetected through routine exam.

Those that do experience symptoms of stroke, often experience one or more of the following:

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg. Often on one side of the body.
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or trouble understanding.
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, or loss of balance or coordination.
  • Sudden trouble seeing in 1 or both eyes. You may have double vision or things may look dim and blurry.
  • Sudden severe headache with no know cause.

Damage can occur within minutes of experience symptoms, making it important to take immediate action. If you experience any of these symptoms call 911 right away.

Be aware of TIA’s (Mini Stroke)!

If you have symptoms that seem like a stroke contact your doctor, even if they go away quickly. You may have had a TIA or Mini Stroke. TIA’s are warning signs that a stroke may happen soon. Getting prompt treatment can help to avoid a stroke.

A HealthyYES! Screening can identify those at risk allowing time for proper treatment from their physician. We invite you to make the decision to be proactive and join us for a screening event in your community.
